Luke Cage Ext. Trailer

I know you guys are really waiting for The Black Panther, but in the meantime, we got Luke Cage. And what’s really great? No Jessica Jones in this one, and plenty of Claire and Misty until we get to The Defenders.

This actually looks pretty good. I don’t like the whole “in the hood” thing but its canon, so I can’t be too mad about it (and that’s not any different from Daredevil fighting crime in Hell’s Kitchen.)

    1. It’s not because I think there will be stereotypes but the potential to reproduce some bad ones is definitely there, especially considering that the MCU doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to depicting people of color.

I do feel pretty good about D’uvernays new movie, A Wrinkle In Time, a book I loved as a child. She’s got a lot of PoC on the set and in the writing room, so I hope to do a post on that next.

  1. SO excited for this. The canon of established POC superheroes will generally be the hood because of when many of those series started. But we’re lucky to have new heroes popping up each year that come from other backgrounds for the next generation

    1. Yeah, I’m repping for my niece on this issue. I didn’t get this very much when I was a girl, but I want her to have all the feels of watching black women be excellent in scifi/fantasy.

    *Sweats, can’t wait*
I love Mike Colter so much. I am kind of relieved he wasn’t at Orlando MegaCon, because I would have seriously embarrassed myself.
I thought he and the heroin kid were the breakout stars of JJ.
